Samuel Williams

Samuel "Sam" Williams was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica on June 3, 1946. He was the only son for his mother Corella and on this father Renalza's side he had 12 brothers and sisters. His Mother and Father preceded him in death. He married his childhood sweetheart, Tena Samuels, in 1971 and they have three children Audrey, Maxine and Marie. Audrey gifted them two grandchildren, Brandon and Jasmine. Jasmine (Kristofer Eichelberger) blessed them with two great-grandchildren, James and Jude. He attended Friendship primary school and went to Public Works to learn the mechanic trade. He then attended the College of Arts, Science and Technology, in Kingston, Jamaica and upon his graduation he went to work as a mechanic for Alcan, Ewarton's bauxite company in Bogwalk, St. Catherine, Jamaica. He left Alcan and went to work for Seprod. Seprod was a producer of oil and soap. He migrated to the Miami area (now known as Miami Gardens) in 1979. In 1981 he began work for Montenay Power as a diesel mechanic and he was there for 25 years. Upon his retirement in 2009 he was the diesel mechanic unit supervisor. He enjoyed playing music and fancied himself a DJ and picked up the nickname "Music". He was a domino aficionado and even wrote a recurring column for the Star newspaper in Jamaica on how to play dominoes. Later in life, he enjoyed fishing and entered numerous tournaments. He accepted the Lord as his personal savior in 1999 and enjoyed serving the community at Florida Bible Church in Pembroke Pines. He served there as a deacon for 4 years and church elder for another 4 years. While there, he served as a bible study teacher and spearheaded a car repair ministry for single women and elderly church members. He went on mission trips to Trinidad and to the deaf school in Jamaica. Sam and Tena retired to Winter Haven, FL in 2011 due in part to Sam's ill health. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Dementia shortly thereafter and departed this life on March 5, 2018. He loved people, his family and the Lord. He is survived by his Wife, Tena, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of family, neighbors and friends.
